Cremation options for pets put to sleep at home.

Gental cat Euthanasia

Losing a beloved pet is never easy, and at Vets 2 Your Pets we believe that how a pet’s final moments and aftercare are handled matters deeply. When a pet is euthanised at home, many families tell us how important it is that everything feels calm, unhurried and guided by their wishes. Our role is to provide a seamless, end-to-end service, ensuring your pet is cared for with dignity from beginning to end.

Cremation After Home Visit Euthanasia

If your pet is peacefully euthanised at home by one of our vets, we can arrange everything that follows. There is no need for you to make phone calls or organise transport during such an emotional time. We will gently talk through your cremation wishes beforehand or at the time of the visit, allowing you to make decisions at your own pace.

Once your pet has passed, they can remain with you for as long as you need. When you feel ready, we will take care of the next steps, arranging collection and transport to one of our dedicated, trusted cremation partners nearby. Your preferences are always the driving factor — nothing is rushed, and nothing happens without your consent.

A Seamless, End-to-End Service

Our aim is to remove as much stress as possible at a time of loss. From the moment we arrive for a home euthanasia visit through to the return of ashes (if chosen), we manage the process on your behalf.

This includes:

  • Discussing standard or individual cremation options clearly and compassionately
  • Arranging respectful home collection
  • Liaising directly with our cremation partners
  • Keeping you informed every step of the way

Many families find comfort in knowing that their pet never needs to be taken to a busy practice, and that care continues seamlessly after the final goodbye at home.

Standard (Communal) Cremation

Standard cremation means your pet is cremated alongside other pets. Ashes are not returned, but your pet is treated with care and respect throughout the process.

This option is often chosen by families who do not wish to keep ashes but want reassurance that everything is handled professionally.

Rough guide to costs:

  • Small pets: approximately £50–£90
  • Medium to large pets: approximately £100–£150

Individual (Private) Cremation

Individual cremation allows your pet to be cremated on their own, with their ashes returned to you. This option gives families the opportunity to remember their pet in a more personal way.

Rough guide to costs:

  • Small pets: from around £150–£220
  • Medium to large pets: approximately £220–£300+

Your ashes are usually returned within a few days, depending on the crematorium.

What Can Be Done With Your Pet’s Ashes?

Many families find comfort in choosing a keepsake that reflects the bond they shared with their pet. Our cremation partners can offer a range of options, including:

  • Urns and caskets in a variety of styles and materials
  • Jewellery made using a small amount of ashes, such as pendants, rings or charms
  • Glass keepsakes, where ashes are incorporated into a decorative piece
  • Memory boxes for collars, paw prints or photographs
  • Scattering options, allowing ashes to be returned to a favourite place or garden

We are happy to talk through these choices and help you decide what feels right for you — there is no right or wrong decision.

Home Collection With Care and Respect

Home collection is available whether your pet passes away naturally or following euthanasia at home. Your pet is collected gently and transported directly to the crematorium, maintaining dignity and respect at every stage.

Families often tell us that this quiet, familiar process brings great reassurance during an emotional time.
